City staff reported on June 2 that the draft environmental impact report (EIR) for Seal Beach’s housing element has been released for public review and that the public comment period closes June 23.
A staff member delivering the director’s report said the draft EIR was released for public review on May 9 and that the Environmental Quality Control Board will hold a public meeting Thursday at 6:15 p.m. in the council chambers to discuss the EIR and develop recommendations for the City Council. The staff member said the draft EIR will later be returned to the planning commission at a date to be determined after the public review period concludes.
The director’s report provided logistical details for residents and stakeholders interested in reviewing the document and attending the Environmental Quality Control Board meeting. No formal action by the planning commission was taken on the EIR during the June 2 meeting; the staff member asked members of the public to consult the public review schedule and attend the meeting if they wished to comment.
