Jackson County approves new voting equipment purchases and a $102,586.08 IT maintenance contract

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors on June 3 authorized purchase agreements for new voting equipment and a one‑year IT maintenance and support contract.
The board approved a purchase agreement and software license between Henry M. Adkins & Son, Inc., and Jackson County for Unisyn voting solutions and a separate purchase agreement with the vendor for precinct central touchpad electronic poll books. The motion carried without objection.
Supervisors also approved an information technology services agreement, managed services plan, document locator service plan and licensed code support agreement with Solutions Inc. for fiscal year 2025–26 for software and hardware maintenance, at a total of $102,586.08. County staff told the board the vendor landscape is changing: Solutions has been sold to Harris, and the transition has been "rocky," but staff said it would be too expensive and disruptive to abort the planned upgrade. About 40 Iowa counties use the same provider, county staff said.
Cost and contract letters supporting the maintenance agreement were discussed; staff said the county received notice of pricing changes in March and budgeted for an increase but that the confirmed contract figure was somewhat higher than anticipated.
The board approved the vendor agreements and authorized the chair to sign the contracts.
