The Spalding County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on June 2 to adopt an updated animal care and control fee schedule for fiscal year 2026.
During the meeting the board approved the fee schedule as presented at an earlier workshop. Commissioners acknowledged differing preferences during discussion: “Some of us wanted a little higher. Some of us wanted a little less,” one commissioner said, before the board approved the schedule by a 5-0 vote.
County staff and the animal control head were thanked for their work during the workshop presentation. The animal control head, identified in the meeting as Miss Hennessy, received the board’s appreciation after the vote.
The county did not disclose specific fee amounts during the public meeting; the adopted schedule was presented to the board at the afternoon workshop and will be included in the county’s fiscal documents for FY2026. No amendments to the schedule were recorded during the meeting.
