Several members argued that Millersville should fix the issues first and that any broader negotiation should include municipal mayors and fire chiefs so everyone hears the same terms.
Committee members noted existing cooperative relationships between EMS and other municipalities — including Gallatin, Hendersonville and Portland — and said they did not want the county to create precedent by paying for repairs or creating obligations that other municipalities could later expect the county to match. A county official suggested holding off until Millersville addresses its reported facility problems, and another recommended bringing all stakeholders together if the county decides to pursue an agreement.
No formal agreement was authorized at the meeting; the motion to require a broad intermunicipal meeting was withdrawn and the item was removed from the agenda for further consideration if raised again.
