At the conclusion of a public-hearing item, the board moved to the Board of Equalization appointments. County staff explained the board may appoint three to seven members and that the board previously used five. Two citizens had agreed to serve, and the board nominated and appointed them by voice vote.
Board member Carlisle nominated Jim Cuba and Kyle Scruggs for appointment. The board approved the nominations by voice vote. After the appointment, a board member moved, and the board approved, giving county staff member Dan authority to seek and appoint a third member without returning to the board for further approval.
During preliminary discussion, staff told the board the time commitment for the Board of Equalization can vary depending on the number of appeals (past sessions have ranged multiple days). Board members discussed outreach challenges and said they prefer a five-member panel but will proceed with three if necessary.
The board then adjourned the meeting.
