An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter contracts with MS Consultants Inc. for professional engineering services on the Britton Road reservoir replacement project was placed on the consent agenda and approved by council.
A staff presenter identified in the meeting as Mister Lottrell said MS Consultants, a downtown design firm, will complete remaining design work and act as designer of record during construction, providing inspection assistance, addenda and public outreach. Lottrell noted MS Consultants had previously performed preliminary design work on a different reservoir project and has been working on the Britton Road design for about a year.
Lottrell also said MKSK will handle the design work to repurpose part of the existing tank and pump house and that MS Consultants will coordinate with MKSK and with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to ensure required documents are completed.
The ordinance was approved on consent; council did not add conditions in committee. Staff said MS Consultants will provide construction-phase services, inspections and public outreach as the project advances.
