Alders approve ARPA reallocation to continue enhanced math and literacy tutors

The New Haven Board of Alders approved an allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds that, according to staff, will support the continuation of the city’s enhanced math and literacy tutor initiative.
Chair Adam Marshon noted the ARPA reallocation had been described by city staff during a prior workshop and that the reallocation “supports the continuation of the enhanced math and literacy tutor initiative” referenced earlier in the meeting. Alders approved the reallocation by voice vote.
Alder Festa asked for additional information comparing this program to a Saturday academy; Marshon acknowledged the request and said staff would follow up with the comparison. The reallocation was passed as part of the board’s package of budget and program funding actions.
