Verona board hears announcement of new school resource officer hire

The Verona Area School District told the board on June 1 that the district and the Verona Police Department have selected Officer Bradley Stoll to serve as the district’s school resource officer.
“Officer Bradley Stoll, who was selected out of 3 finalist candidates,” the administration said when announcing the hire, noting finalists spent time in the building and participated in joint interviews with district administrators and the Verona Police Department.
Presenters said the three finalists each spent time at the high school over the last two months to demonstrate relationship skills and work with students and families. They said the Verona Police Department is the final hiring authority and gave the district a substantive role in evaluating candidates; Officer Stoll was the district’s preferred selection. District staff said Stoll will begin contract work with the high school in the fall of the next school year.
Board members thanked district and police leaders for collaborating on the process. No formal vote to hire was recorded at the board meeting; presenters framed the announcement as a personnel update and said the city police department completes formal hiring.
The announcement followed student recognition and preceded the superintendent’s reports at the board meeting.
