Plano Public Library offers adapted book collection for neurodivergent readers at Davis Library

Steve Stoler, a speaker representing Plano Public Library, said the library’s adapted book collection is now available for patrons to check out at Davis Library.
Adapted books are picture books that have been altered with sensory and interactive elements to support readers with disabilities or who are neurodivergent, including people with autism and ADHD. "Plano Public Library has something that no other library in the nation has, an adapted book collection," Stoler said.
Stoler described the collection as "a variety of picture books that have been disassembled and reassembled to support equal reading experiences." He said the books are intended to offer new ways of learning for a unique audience in the community and added, "Reading enjoyment looks different for everyone. And with adapted books, we can offer new ways of learning for a unique audience in our community."
On availability, Stoler said, "Our patrons can now check out these books at Davis Library." He closed his remarks with a reference to his program, saying, "We'll see you soon for another Stoler on the Street."
