Council hears large Watershed procurement and intergovernmental water/sewer IGA; items referred to City Utilities Committee

Councilmember Andrea Boone introduced several Watershed Management items that the council referred to the City Utilities Committee on June 2, including a large construction contract and an intergovernmental agreement for water and sewer services.
Boone presented a $61,328,000.59 contract award recommendation for RFP ONDWM23121240164 — the North Utah trunk sewer replacement — with Ruby Collins / Benchmark joint venture and asked the council to refer the item to City Utilities for detailed consideration. "This is to commit on the date a notice to proceed is issued for a period of 24 months in an amount not to exceed $61,328,000.59," Boone said when introducing the item.
She also presented an intergovernmental agreement to provide water and sewer treatment services with Cobb County and asked that item be referred to the City Utilities Committee for evaluation. The council referred both the contract authorization and the Cobb County IGA to City Utilities, which will review project scope, procurement details, budgets and timelines.
Council staff said all contracted work will be charged to and paid from the fund, department and account numbers listed in the item packet and that committee review is standard practice for projects of this size. The full council did not vote to award the contract at the meeting; the referral allows committee members to examine contract terms, project schedules and funding details and return recommendations to the full council.
