Council advances budget amendments for multi-use paths, hears courthouse remodel update; schedules facilities presentation

Council members reviewed and forwarded proposed 2025 budget amendments that include additional design costs for three multi-use paths contracted to GGL and adjustments related to a courthouse remodel the city is sharing with another entity.

Finance committee minutes say one of the budget adjustments covers additional design costs for the three multi-use paths contracted to GGL. Committee materials also note other budget changes are due to a courthouse remodel; staff stated the remodel costs will be split 50/50, with half coming out of the other party's budget and half from the city.

Administration informed the committee it will request a Committee of the Whole meeting on June 3 at 5:30 p.m. for a formal facilities presentation and asked council members to attend. The finance director also reported on other administrative items, including expenses greater than $5,000 and procurement questions about civic-clerk software used for meeting streaming and agenda/ minutes production.

The committee received an informational update on short-term rentals: Amber Rathburn said there are currently three bills at the state level that could affect local short-term rental rules, but she described that update as informational only until the state acts. No local code changes were proposed at the meeting.

Recreation staff reported separately on a pool feature replacement project: Rob Ross said staff will install three new pool fountain features, lowering installation costs; the quoted total project cost is $26,100. The public pool had been filled early so water would warm before the May 31 season opening, Ross said.
