Needham Heights banner designs cleared for select board review, launch pending photos and approval

The Revitalization Trust Fund said May 29 that banner designs for Needham Heights are complete and the committee will submit the package to town staff to begin the select board review process.
Trust Fund members said the banners, which use the town’s new logo and a highway-style font to conform with public display standards, are intended to mark public parking and local amenities along Highland Avenue and Avery Common. The committee said photos showing the banners mounted on the poles on Highland Avenue are the only remaining deliverable before forwarding the proposal to JP, who will shepherd it through the select board process.
Committee members described the public process after select board receipt: the select board will accept the proposal, open a two-week public comment period, and then take a final vote at a subsequent meeting. The design has already received input from the town’s design review process earlier in the year; delays were attributed to a new town logo that was finalized late in 2024.
No funding vote was recorded at the May 29 meeting; committee members said they will secure funding if the select board approves the banner plan.
