Daniel, a school staff member at Wiseburn Unified, was described by four colleagues as a dedicated employee who builds relationships with students and provides support both inside and outside school.
Staff member 1, a school staff member, said, "Danny is special because he connects with kids, in a really special way. He goes out of his way to know our students. Students are really comfortable with him, and he will oftentimes come to us as administrators to say a student shared something. Or, even more impressive is he knows when a student is having an off day, and he will let us know and ask us to check-in. I've had the privilege of working with mister Daniel and have been able to see how dedicated and committed he is to our students."
"He is hardworking. He's well respected by students and staff, and is always willing to go the extra mile," said Staff member 1. "We've worked together to brainstorm ways to be able to support students outside of school at the library and park and he was willing to dedicate his time even beyond his work hours to support students in those areas and the benefits of his support and his dedication are very clear with our students. Mister Daniel or Danny is the utility player that every school needs and deserves. From my perspective, in special education, he is greeting students each and every day."
Staff member 1 added, "He's making students are feeling welcome. He will be support them."
Staff member 2, a school staff member, said Daniel supports students "in the classroom, on the playground, greeting them as they walk through the doors, and he always does it with a smile and with the intention of making a positive impact for the kids."
Staff member 3, a school staff member, said, "Danny is a pretty special person. He has probably helped every department on campus, including the people that he doesn't have to work with. So office staff, admin, janitors, teachers, students, he is willing to do it all."
Staff member 4, a school staff member, said they hired Daniel "over a decade ago" and described him as present in multiple school locations — "in the front of the school, he's in the back of the school, he's at the library, he's at the park" — where he works to build relationships with students.
