The Village of Orland Park Board of Trustees approved creation of a student internship program and related policy, authorizing the village to proceed with program implementation and budgeted resources.
Trustee Lawler moved for approval, saying staff was expected to finalize program details and that a modest budget had been included. Trustee Joseph Malani had earlier moved to table the item to allow staff additional time; later the board approved the program at this meeting with the understanding staff would return with agreed refinements.
The village attorney explained the Committee of the Whole recommended that the board approve the program generally and allow staff to come back with the discussed changes. The motion passed on a recorded roll call with multiple trustees voting “Aye”; Trustee Healy was absent.
The board’s action authorizes staff to implement the internship program and directed staff to return with any substantive adjustments discussed in committee.
