Brown County Commissioners Court reviewed a multi‑jurisdiction hazard mitigation plan compiled with municipal and school‑district partners and approved the county’s participation and submission to the federal review process.
County staff said the hazard mitigation plan was developed over several years with participation from Brown County, the City of Brownwood, City of Early and other municipalities and Brownwood Independent School District. Staff described the plan as the common plan that FEMA requires and said drafts were exchanged with participating jurisdictions and revised before final submission.
Chief Hicks and staff led the county’s work to assemble the plan and coordinate participating entities, staff said. Commissioners discussed document availability and confirmed copies of the final plan would be provided to commissioners; staff said copies were available at the dais and that a digital copy had been emailed to at least one member who requested it.
Staff said the plan had recently received final local approval and that now each participating governmental entity must formally approve the county‑wide plan before submission to FEMA; staff also noted the plan reflects multi‑agency meetings and recommended changes from the federal review process.
