Morgan County OKs $100,000 for Monroe Township EMS station, approves EMS leadership reclassifications

County staff said the funds come from quarterly payments by Raindrop LLC under a taxpayer agreement tied to the West Point TIF District and are dedicated to the Monroe Township EMS station. "We have money that we receive from Raindrop LLC as part of a taxpayer agreement we have with the West Point TIF District," a county staff member said. The council voted 7‑0 to appropriate the $100,000 for the project.
Council discussion included a brief construction update: staff reported the interior has a first layer of paint and estimated a probable July completion. "Probably July," a staff member said when asked about the estimated date of completion.
Separately under new business, the council considered EMS job classifications after a Job Maintenance Committee meeting. Doree reported that the director of operations will be leaving to attend physician assistant school and that the county proposes reclassifying co‑director positions so a new operations director would report to the director of administration. "They were changing, job descriptions after being in the position for a couple of years," Doree said, describing the committee’s recommendation. The council approved the classification changes and the related salary reassignments; that motion carried 7‑0.
The reclassification changes move a Chief Director of Operations position to an EXE‑2 classification and a Chief Director of Administration to EXE‑3, according to committee remarks. County staff said there was no change in overall money requested — the change was in classification and duties and would take effect when the new person is hired.
