County Announces Multiple Board Vacancies, Reappointments and Candidate Recommendations

Gina James of Health & Human Services updated commissioners on volunteer board vacancies and applications. She said the homeless housing task force has one opening (13 members currently, up to 15 permitted) and that two openings exist on the veterans advisory board after a resignation and an expired term.
James said she had a positive conversation with Amy (Alyssa) White, a certified peer support specialist who applied to the homeless housing task force and that she would not have an issue recommending White for appointment.
For the veterans advisory board, James identified Todd Bowes (spelling per application) as a candidate with service in the Coast Guard and community involvement with Rotary, YMCA and Habitat. Commissioners indicated on‑the‑record support for the suggested candidates and staff noted that the board of equalization has a vacancy after the chair moved out of state; staff recommended a local attorney and property owner with law school credentials as a candidate for that body.
The announcements were for routine appointment business; formal appointments and swearing‑in for the board of equalization will follow the clerk’s office procedures when candidates are finalized.
