Mike Wilson, Building and Planning, described an interlocal agreement with the City of Longview, similar to existing arrangements the county has with Kelso and Castle Rock. Wilson said Longview approached the county to provide overflow permit and inspection coverage for vacations and temporary staffing gaps; he does not expect the arrangement to generate heavy workload because Longview’s department is slightly larger.
Wilson said the county already provides a broader array of services for Castle Rock, including limited flood management work, and that Kelso and Castle Rock arrangements have worked well. He said the interlocal will preserve consistency in code interpretation across the region and support continuity of service across municipal boundaries. The agreement was presented as a routine interlocal on the upcoming agenda.
