Committee schedules interviews for opioid treatment and prevention grants; deliberation set for June 27

The Nantucket Contract Review Committee on May 30 set a schedule to interview applicants for opioid (substance misuse) treatment and prevention grants, and planned a subsequent meeting to deliberate awards.
Chair Veronica Bolger told the committee the packet included two treatment and three prevention applications and proposed inviting applicants to present for five minutes each. “If we can just invite everyone to do interviews and if we can do that next Friday. Do you think that would be possible?” Bolger asked.
Jericho Veil, administrative staff, said he would email applicants and ask each to prepare a five-minute presentation and that committee members should send questions early if they can. “I will I think we can definitely send that out today,” Veil said. He proposed reserving five to ten minutes for questions after each presentation and noted there are five applicants, with two applications coming from a single organization that will present separately for prevention and treatment tracks.
The committee said it will use the scoring rubric contained in the request for proposals (RFP) for substance misuse grants. Veil said the rubric is the same as used in prior substance misuse grant reviews and that deliberation typically occurs after interviews.
Members discussed possible dates for deliberation and agreed to try to meet before the end of the fiscal year but noted scheduling conflicts among members. The committee settled on a deliberation meeting at 9 a.m. on June 27, 2025; the committee also confirmed interviews would take place at the committee’s next scheduled meeting on June 6, 2025.
The committee did not award funding at the May 30 meeting; decisions will follow interviews and a separate deliberation session. Committee staff will notify applicants of the interview schedule and provide the interview format.
