Peoria County holds required annual NPDES public meeting; staff notes one outstanding enforcement procedure violation

Jeff, a Peoria County staff member who coordinates the county's stormwater program, said state and federal rules require an annual public meeting to gather input on the county's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, which covers the county storm sewer system.
"The county is required every year to provide an annual a public meeting to, gather input regarding the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System grama. That is basically our storm sewer system, throughout the county," Jeff said. He told the committee the county had an audit in 2019 and has taken care of all issues except one: the county has not implemented appropriate enforcement procedures and actions to respond in a timely manner to prohibited stormwater discharges into the county storm sewer system.
A motion to open the public hearing was made by Mr. Ruhlin and seconded by Matt. After the staff presentation there were no public comments recorded in the transcript. Betty moved to close the public hearing; Sharon seconded the motion. The committee closed the hearing by voice vote with no nays recorded.
Jeff did not present a formal corrective-action timetable in the recorded remarks; the meeting record shows the item was heard as the required annual public meeting and closed without further committee direction recorded in the transcript.
