The Senate voted to stand in recess until 6 p.m. after members said no business had returned from the House.

Senator from Chittenden told the chamber that “we have nothing to act nothing in the ensuing 2 hours has come back to us from the house,” and moved that the Senate recess until 6 p.m. The presiding officer asked, “If so, all in favor, say aye,” and the motion carried on a voice vote. The president later declared, “The ayes have it. We'll stand in recess until 06:00PM this evening.”

The adjournment followed a string of committee announcements. The senator identified as the Senator from Chittenden said the Health and Welfare Committee would meet “at the fall of the gavel in our committee room.” The Senator from Washington announced that the Appropriations Committee will meet on Jan. 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The Senator from Franklin announced that the Senate Committee on Economic Development, Housing and General Affairs would meet immediately after the gavel for a brief meeting. A senator also offered an informal Q&A with Secretary Bloomer on Senate rules and decorum for members who wished to stay after adjournment.

Remarks about personal matters, including several members noting spouses' birthdays, were made from the floor but did not affect the formal actions taken. The Senate recessed shortly after the announcements and is scheduled to return at 6 p.m.
