Conway council recognizes public safety telecommunicators as first responders, urges state and federal reclassification

The Conway City Council on May 27 unanimously adopted a resolution formally recognizing public safety telecommunicators serving Faulkner County as first responders and asking state and federal lawmakers to consider reclassification.

Council members highlighted the stress and critical nature of 911 telecommunicators’ work and noted the callers and field responders who rely on their coordination. "Public safety telecommunicators are the first point of contact for citizens in crisis, playing a vital role in the emergency response system," the resolution recited during the meeting.
