Horizonte establishes Ara Gutierrez Sanchez scholarship; donors and fund chairs recognized

Horizonte announced the creation of the Ara Gutierrez Sanchez scholarship and presented the inaugural award during its Class of 2025 commencement events. Yoretsky Gutierrez, the late staff member's daughter, presented the scholarship to recipient Sparatha Niazidez.
"My mom was a part of Horizonte in more ways than one," Yoretsky Gutierrez said, describing her mother's long connection to the school and the family's gratitude for the scholarship that will support students who "show commitment and growth and show up despite the struggles they may carry." The school said the scholarship is intended to continue Ara Gutierrez Sanchez's legacy of dedication to students.
The ceremony also publicly recognized recurring scholarship donors and the Horizonte Scholarship Fund leadership. Eleanor Chase, the school's counselor, introduced the donor roll call that named Dr. Rick Harnsberger and James P. Anderson as co-founding chairs of the Horizonte Scholarship Fund and listed foundations and individual contributors who support student scholarships.
Donors identified during the ceremony included George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, Mariner S. Eccles Foundation, the Archer Family Foundation, Rotary Club of Salt Lake City and several private individuals and foundations; the transcript lists additional named donors. The school said "many Horizonte students receive thousands of dollars in scholarships" each year but did not specify totals or per-student amounts.
