During the public comment period, resident Todd Bryce told the Seagoville City Council that several single-family homes on his street have been converted into duplexes and asked the council to intervene.
Bryce said he had previously reported three conversions and that a fourth had been identified. “I was promised a single dwelling area to live at when I bought my home,” Bryce said. “Half of our street is becoming duplexes, which is multi dwelling.”
He described problems he attributed to the conversions, including tenants he said were hostile toward his family: “Across the street from my house, I've got 6 men. No women. No kids. But I got men over there hollering at my kids.” Bryce said he would provide the addresses to the city so staff could investigate enforcement options.
The council did not take formal action during public comment; city rules announced at the meeting note that the council may not discuss items raised by the public beyond factual or policy information provided by staff. Bryce’s remarks were recorded as part of the public-comment agenda item.
