Council reappoints two members to Planning & Zoning; creates part-time records position after executive session

The City Council reappointed Janet Davis and Shannon Wolford on May 20 to three-year terms on the Planning & Zoning Commission and approved creating a part-time records office assistant after a closed executive session.

Natalie, the city secretary, told council both Davis and Wolford held the expiring positions and had requested reappointment; staff said no additional applicants had been received for the vacancies. Council moved and seconded to reappoint both women; the roll-call vote recorded yes from Council members Schrader, McKinney, Dickerson and Marks and the motion passed.

During announcements council also moved into a closed executive session under Chapter 551.074 of the Texas Government Code, which allows discussion of personnel matters. After returning to open session, council voted to create a part-time records office assistant position for the City of Santa Fe. The motion to create the position passed on a roll-call vote recorded as yes from Council members Dickerson, Marks, Schrader and McKinney.

Staff noted a procedural discrepancy in the reappointment paperwork: the agenda materials called the Planning & Zoning terms to expire in July 2028, while the motion recorded the expiration as May 2028; staff said they would review submitted applications and clarify the record. No compensation or job description for the new part-time records position was provided at the meeting; council directed staff to complete the hiring paperwork and return with implementation details as needed.
