Board approves $274,240 bid to rebuild north‑side sidewalk on Cormier Road; spot repairs planned on south side

The Village Board voted Tuesday to award the Cormier Road concrete sidewalk reconstruction project to Aldex (Al Dix) Construction for $274,240, covering full replacement of the north‑side sidewalk from Shady to Ridge and spot repairs on the south side.
Brian Rickert explained the project and bid alternatives presented to the board. "We did receive bids from Al Dix and Martell Construction. We are recommending to go with alternate b. Alternate b does include, essentially to replace all of the sidewalk on the North Side Of Cormier from Shady to Ridge," Rickert said.
Staff noted the project was included in the 2025 capital improvement plan and the recommended alternate brought the project in under the original budget of $329,000, allowing for additional south‑side spot repairs. The board approved the motion to accept Aldex Construction's bid by voice vote.
Trustees asked about contractor locality; staff said Aldex Concrete is based in Kaukauna and that village crews have worked with the contractor previously.
The project will proceed with the awarded contractor and staff will schedule construction per the capital plan.
