Heritage-tree removal at 98 Maple Avenue continued to June after neighbor letters

The Planning Commission opened the public-comment portion of its May 28 meeting and continued the heritage-tree removal request for 98 Maple Avenue to the June hearing at the applicant's request.
Chair Lane explained the applicant asked for a continuance to meet with neighbors and provide additional information. Town Planner Britney Bendix confirmed staff received two emailed letters opposing the removal—one from Paul Quinlan at 49 Maple and another from Darren and Amy Torrey at 57 Maple—and that the letters will be included in the June hearing packet. "Our town arborist had requested additional testing in the cavity of the tree," Bendix said, and staff expects the continuance will give the applicant time to perform that testing and submit documentation.
The commission voted to continue the item to next month's meeting. Chair Lane said staff will include the neighbor letters in the packet and will re-open the item for any attendees who came specifically for 98 Maple.
