Committee materials noted additional inquiries have arrived and staff recommended adding funds to maintain momentum; the council motion allocated $20,000 more to the program.
Why it matters: The added money will likely fund several more façade projects downtown, leveraging private investment for building improvements. Administrator Hirth told the council he already had three applications on his desk after the funding boost.
The council carried the funding designation unanimously; the motion followed the economic development committee’s recommendation to allocate funds from the committee’s designated fund balance. The funds will be administered per the grant program rules and available applications.
