Land Use Committee recommends confirmation of Molly Spitelnik to Seattle Design Commission

The Seattle City Council Special Land Use Committee voted unanimously on May 29 to recommend confirmation of Molly Spitelnik for a second term on the Seattle Design Commission.
Chair Mark Solomon opened the committee’s May 29 meeting and read the agenda before staff introduced the appointment material for Item 1, Appointment 3172. Michael Jenkins, director of the Seattle Design Commission, told the committee that Spitelnik is an urban designer with the ZGF architecture firm and that her packet includes a CV and supporting materials. Jenkins said Spitelnik “specializes in transit, TOD, multifamily, and site planning as an urban designer,” and noted she had been appointed vice chair of the commission.
The committee moved to recommend confirmation. The roll call showed four votes in favor, with no votes recorded against the recommendation. Chair Solomon said the committee recommendation will be forwarded to the full Council meeting on June 3, 2025, for final consideration.
The appointment would fill a term running through Feb. 28, 2027, and the committee packet listed Spitelnik’s employer as ZGF and her role as an urban designer. The committee took no additional public testimony on the appointment and heard no questions from members after the presentation.
The committee’s recommendation is advisory to the full Council; the Council will take the final confirmation vote at its June 3 meeting.
