Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is waiving adoption fees for adult cats and reducing kitten adoption fees by half through Aug. 3, WPB TV reporter Cheryl Khan said, part of an effort to move animals into homes during "kitten season."
The promotion applies to adult cats at the shelter; dozens of kittens and adult cats arrive at the rescue each week, the segment said. Dogs available for adoption are also on display at the shelter, and animals living in foster homes can be brought in for in-person visits.
All animals are examined by in-house veterinarians, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before adoption, Khan said. "Think you might take her home?" Khan asked during the report. For more information, the segment directed viewers to peggyadams.org, Khan added.
Shelter staff and volunteers did not make a formal motion or policy decision during the broadcast; the segment was a promotional report about the shelter's temporary fee changes and adoption process. The segment did not specify the shelter's address, the full list of animals available, or whether any funding or external grants support the fee changes.
