Doctor Walsh, Southside High School principal, and Miss Green, assistant principal at Southside High School, outlined dates, ticketing rules and student‑conduct requirements for the senior prom, the post‑prom and graduation.
The senior prom will be held Tuesday, June 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Heritage Club at Bethpage. “Any student who is under the influence of any kind or in possession of any chemical substance or related paraphernalia, including vaping products, will be removed and picked up by a parent or guardian,” Doctor Walsh said. Administrators and chaperones will supervise the event and vehicles may be checked; staff said they may use a breathalyzer if deemed necessary. Doctor Walsh added that any student found in violation will not be permitted to walk at graduation.
Prom tickets cost $95 and will be sold through the student’s my school box account; the administrators said the purchase link will open Monday, June 2, and remain available through Friday, June 6. Students bringing guests who do not attend Southside High School must complete the outside‑guest application and turn it in to the main office or when picking up tickets. Doctor Walsh and Miss Green instructed students and a parent to submit a pre‑prom verification Google form confirming they watched the informational video before purchasing tickets.
The post‑prom party, sponsored by the Southside High School PTSA, will follow the prom at Dave & Buster’s in Westbury; students must provide their own transportation and there is no reentry if a student leaves during the event. Organizers said no bags are permitted at the post‑prom and bags must be left on the bus.
“Graduation rehearsal is mandatory for all students,” Miss Green said. The rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, at 11:30 a.m. in the high school auditorium; students who do not attend the rehearsal will not be allowed to march at graduation. Caps and gowns will be distributed at rehearsal.
Graduation will be held Friday, June 27, at Hofstra University’s David Mack Sports Complex. Graduates must report by 4 p.m.; the ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. and is expected to end by 7 p.m. There are no tickets for the ceremony and administrators said families may bring as many guests as they wish. Students will receive diplomas at the end of the event; administrators reminded students that honor society sashes and cords must be returned and that the Rockville Centre Union Free School District and Hofstra University are not responsible for lost personal items such as cell phones or cameras.
Administrators repeated the discipline and safety guidance multiple times: students removed for substance possession or use will be picked up by a guardian and barred from walking at graduation. They also asked students planning to decorate graduation caps to submit a photo or description of the design to Doctor Walsh and Miss Green for approval by Thursday, June 26, at 2 p.m.
For questions or clarification, administrators asked families to contact Southside High School and to complete the required Google verification form confirming both student and parent watched the video.
