Mayfield Heights City Council on May 28 authorized the mayor to enter an agreement with IO Solutions to provide promotional testing services for police‑department civil‑service promotions.

The police chief recommended IO Solutions, saying the department has used the company previously and found its testing to be accurate and comprehensive. The chief told council the current eligibility list for promotions expired in July 2024 and that the department needs a new promotional‑testing process to create an updated eligibility list.

Law Director Schmidlin read the resolution authorizing the mayor to contract with IO Solutions (Resolution 2025‑26). Council moved to suspend the rules and approved the resolution on roll call. Council members who participated voted in favor of the resolution.

Council members noted the memo from the chief included background on the expired eligibility list and the department’s prior use of IO Solutions. The resolution declares the matter an emergency to allow timely contracting and scheduling of promotional testing.
