The City of Bandera City Council voted unanimously to accept the resignation of City Administrator Stan Farmer and authorized the mayor to finalize any resignation details.
Debbie Breen moved to accept Stan Farmer’s resignation and to give the mayor authority to finalize related items; the motion carried 5-0. Council also reviewed the job description for the city administrator post and agreed to use the current version dated Jan. 18, 2022 for posting while staff solicits applications.
Council discussion touched on whether residency or experience requirements in the current job description are too restrictive. Debbie Breen expressed concern that some language could be overly restrictive for local candidates; Brett Hicks urged a faster posting to attract a broad pool and suggested additional outreach channels. Council members agreed that the posted description is a guide and that candidates need not meet every listed qualification.
The council directed staff to post the existing job description, accept applications, and return to the council for interviews and hiring decisions; the council may call a special meeting if needed. The council did not appoint an interim administrator at this meeting.
