City staff reported they received financing terms for a golf course roof and council members asked how the project would be funded within the current fiscal year.
“We did get some financing terms with FirstBank Valley. It's a little over 200,000. I think the interest rate is 4.99%,” said Staff member, summarizing loan offers. Staff told the council they reached out to multiple banks and received responses from Regions and FirstBank; FirstBank offered the lowest interest rate for the golf course work.
Council members questioned available budget capacity. One participant said the city had “a hundred and 36,000 available for big projects for this current fiscal year,” and cited a project total of about $247,000 and a town contribution of roughly half. The speaker also noted the city manager has “$300,000 in New York long after projects that we did not touch,” which in context was described as an available contingency or reserve fund.
Speakers discussed whether reserve funds would need to be used and whether the town’s share could be covered under current allotments. No formal motion to accept financing or to appropriate funds appeared in the transcript. Staff and council members indicated they would continue clarifying fund sources and how the loan terms would affect the budget.
The transcript records no vote; follow‑up steps noted were confirmation of precise funding sources, loan terms and whether existing contingency funds would be tapped for the project.
