County officials said the jail project will move forward to committee work after a property-boundary issue is resolved with adjacent landowners.
The County Mayor reported he spoke with a neighboring landowner about allowing county work 90 feet beyond a lot adjacent to the jail. The mayor said the owner planned to discuss the request with family members and that county staff expect clarification within a few weeks. Officials said that clarification on the boundary will determine whether trees along the line can be removed to prepare the site.
The mayor also said Jim Langford of Spirit Architecture will visit the county to review the project and that the county will reconvene the jail committee to restart planning now that the county has acquired the property. No construction schedule, engineering estimates or contract awards were presented at the meeting.
County staff and commissioners did not take formal action at this meeting beyond reporting these next steps. The mayor said the boundary and related site work should be cleared up in the coming weeks before the committee advances formal project steps.
