Westmont awards 2025 MFT resurfacing contract to Schroeder Asphalt; approves $130,700 engineering agreement

The Westmont Village Board voted May 29 to award the 2025 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) resurfacing project to Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc. and to authorize a phase-3 construction engineering agreement with Premier Engineers Ltd.
Public Works staff reported the village received multiple competitive bids; the low bid was about 20% below the engineer’s estimate of $1,533,438.17. Director Amy Rice recommended awarding the work to Schroeder Asphalt Services, a contractor who has completed satisfactory work for the village in the past.
Trustees then approved a separate engineering-services agreement with Premier Engineers Ltd. for $130,700 to provide phase-3 construction engineering services, including construction inspection, documentation and contractor coordination.
The two motions passed on roll call votes. Trustee Little moved to award the resurfacing contract and Trustee Guzzo seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Trustee Scales moved to approve the engineering agreement and Trustee Little seconded; that motion also passed unanimously.
Village staff said the resurfacing work will proceed under the MFT project number 25-0011500RS and that the engineering agreement covers required inspection and oversight during construction. Contractors are expected to mobilize after final contract documents are executed and permits cleared.
