Missoula County planning and several community councils discussed land-use planning, local development and a federally funded corridor project during the May 28 all-community council meeting.
Bonnie Roberts, representing Clinton, said Ian Varley from the Missoula County planning office spoke to the Clinton council about county growth policies and zoning, and that “at the present time, he shows that they have no information on future growth in Clinton.” Roberts said the council plans to convene community members in the fall to discuss preferred future growth and to invite Varley back.
Danica reported that Lolo plans to spend the summer reviewing the land-use plan and the county growth policy after a DNRC presentation on wildfire preparedness and forest-thinning grants. Danica said Karen (a county presenter) had earlier provided information on zoning and land-use policy and that Lolo hopes to coordinate its local review with the county growth-policy update.
West Valley members reported a long discussion about a proposed storage unit south of Roman Creek Road and a new subdivision on Schaeffer Lane; those developments were discussed but no formal council action was recorded in the meeting transcript.
Dave urged residents interested in the Highway 200 corridor project grant to contact their federal representatives, saying that “now is absolutely the time to, to send a letter to, in our case, representative Zinke and senators Sheehy and Danes because, they're in positions of, of, of authority, if you will, that, they could make a real difference in terms of advocating that this project not be canceled.” The transcript records the recommendation to send letters; no formal county-level motion was made during the meeting.
