Fannin County commissioners review and approve FY2024 budget amendments; auditors to finalize report

Fannin County commissioners reviewed recommended final amendments to the fiscal year 2024 budget and approved the county finance director's request to allow staff to sign the final audit report once auditors complete it.

Finance Director Sherry Walker presented the budget adjustments, reporting that general fund revenues increased by $5,454,227 with a year-end fund balance of $38,885,711. She said that represented about $334,000 more in revenues than the prior year. Walker also reported that the 2017 SPLOST fund decreased by about $4.99 million during the fiscal year to a year-end balance of $14,761,985, and that the 2023 SPLOST fund increased by $8,336,521 to a balance of $10,612,245.

Walker recommended approval of the final FY2024 budget amendments across all funds; commissioners moved, seconded and approved the recommendation during the meeting. Walker said auditors were updating the final draft of the FY2024 annual financial report and asked the board to authorize staff to sign the report when acceptable.

A commissioner moved to give the named staff member permission to sign the final draft once auditors complete their work; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. One commissioner noted they would not vote because they had made the request; the chair called for the affirmative voice vote and recorded approval.
