Cheyenne Central High School held its Class of 2025 commencement at Cheyenne Frontier Days, where school leaders and trustees presented diplomas and recognized students for academic, artistic and military-related achievements.
Principal Karen Delbridge opened the ceremony, introducing staff and guests and noting the school’s long history and accomplishments. “My name is Karen Delbridge, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Cheyenne Central High School,” Delbridge said, and she acknowledged retiring administrators, school resource officers and partner schools.
The ceremony highlighted academic accolades and college scholarships: 14 graduates had a 4.0 grade-point average, 57 had a 3.75 or higher and 22 were AP Capstone diploma candidates. The class included two National Merit Scholarship finalists and a U.S. Presidential Scholar semifinalist; 13 graduates received the University of Wyoming Trustee Scholarship. Delbridge also noted extracurricular success, including state championships in girls cross country and girls basketball and state titles in boys and girls tennis.
Leaders recognized students headed to military service: Delbridge said at least 15 graduates had enlisted and two had accepted appointments to military academies. The principal also noted seniors wearing “purple cords” to honor dependents of military service members.
Superintendent Dr. Steven Newton and the Laramie County School District #1 board of trustees were acknowledged onstage; a board representative told graduates the board was ready to grant diplomas. "Serve wisely," Newton told the class in brief remarks urging service and civic commitment.
Student speeches framed the ceremony. Student speaker Crimson Flowers reflected on growth through high school: “High school wasn't just a place where we showed up every day. It's where we grew as individuals.” Class representative Matthew Clawson closed the ceremony by leading the tassel-turning, asking classmates to join in the ceremonial turning of their tassels.
The board of trustees formally presented the graduating class, and graduates were directed to pick up their diplomas per ceremony instructions. No formal board vote or ordinance was recorded during the event.
