City staff presented the settlement offer during a noon special meeting called to discuss potential litigation. "At this point, we have received a settlement offer for the amount of $10,000 related to public record request number 24Dash250," Scott Mihalik said. Mihalik said he did not expect extended discussion.
The settlement was moved and seconded during the meeting; a council member asked whether Council member Boyle was the seconder, and Boyle confirmed. The council then voted by voice; the presiding mayor announced, "The ayes have it, and the motion is passed." The meeting record shows no recorded opposition or abstentions.
Earlier on the agenda the council voted to excuse the absence of Council member Espinosa. Council member Williams made the motion to excuse the absence and Council member Cleveland seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
The special meeting was brief. City staff characterized the session as primarily procedural, saying little additional discussion was needed before the council approved the settlement. The council concluded the meeting at about 12:05 p.m.
