Finance committee weighs new dashboard format, board members push for campus-level breakdowns

Keystone Central finance committee members reviewed a proposed dashboard-style board report format and asked staff to retain the current itemized reports that break expenditures down by campus.
The staff presentation described a new dashboard comparing local, state and federal revenue over three years and comparing year-to-date figures against budget. Joni, the staff presenter, said the format follows practices other Pennsylvania districts adopted: “this is what Pennsylvania schools went to Pasco and forecast 5 and said, this is what we want our dashboard to look like.”
Several board members supported keeping the proposed dashboard but insisted it must not replace detailed, campus-level budget reports. Board member Elizabeth said, “I still wanna see the budget broken down by school campus.” Another board member added that bill-of-payment reports already show spending by school and that staff will continue to make those available.
Staff said the district will continue to provide the more itemized reports and will explore dashboard views that allow deeper drill-downs. Committee members suggested a plan for a deeper review in the fall when staff can present more granular reports and a phased move away from Excel spreadsheets into the new system.
No formal vote occurred; staff will continue developing the dashboard and keep the existing itemized reports available for board review.
