Commenter 3 said Cambridge had been important to their family across generations and that they had registered as a volunteer five years ago even before having children in the district: "Alamo Heights ISD and specifically Cambridge has always been so special to the Shimp family. My mother-in-law volunteered here when my husband went here. My aunt volunteered here when her kids went here. And so when we moved to San Antonio 5 Years ago, all I knew was family. And so I was really looking for somewhere to plant roots and volunteer and give back to a community that has given so much to my family." Commenter 3 also said they remain a library volunteer: "it fills my heart so much to help these kiddos find the right book and learn and expand their knowledge, and I can't wait to do that when my kids are eventually here."
A third commenter emphasized the community's supportive nature and said volunteering provided personal fulfillment and a way to encourage others to get involved: "Our parents love these kids. I felt more sense of accomplishment and fulfillment when I volunteered. And I'm hoping that that, positive attitude can help, encourage others to wanna get involved and volunteer," Commenter 1 said.
