The White County Board of Education voted May 29 to approve the fiscal year 2026 school nutrition budget as presented at the May 27 work session. Board members said there were no changes to the packet and approved the budget by roll call.
Why it matters: the school nutrition budget funds cafeteria operations and meal programs for the district’s students. Board members asked that cafeteria financials continue to be tracked monthly and that any proposed bonuses charged to the cafeteria fund be clarified before implementation.
Vote: the motion passed by roll call (unanimous in favor). The budget will be forwarded to the county budget committee for inclusion in the county’s overall FY2026 review and approval process.
Ending: the board instructed the nutrition director and finance staff to continue monthly reporting to the board and to notify the board if adjustments to the cafeteria fund are needed during the fiscal year.
