Council endorses plan to form a business advisory council

Councilmembers suggested the group should prioritize current business owners and active operators, rather than retired or out-of-area participants, and recommended quarterly meetings to start.
Staff offered that the advisory council could meet as a televised work session or as a private meeting modeled on other community committees; councilmembers said they would ask invitees what meeting frequency they preferred and whether they would want sessions televised. The council asked staff to begin preparing a framework and to send invitations; staff said it would draft membership guidelines and logistics and report back to the council.
Councilmembers described the advisory body as a way to strengthen the local economy and said direct input from businesses could inform public-safety, permitting, and economic development work. No ordinance or formal committee charter was adopted at the meeting; staff will return with proposed framework and invitations.
