City officials said the final phase introduced two signature facilities: a state-of-the-art aquatic center featuring a 50-meter Olympic pool and related amenities, and an 80,000-square-foot community center intended to serve residents of all ages from toddlers to seniors. The city listed programs such as swim lessons, fitness programs and youth sports among activities expected at the park.
The city thanked residents, community leaders and corporate sponsors, specifically Baptist Health and Univision, for supporting the opening. City materials described the project as a flagship achievement of a voter-approved Doral Park initiative and “a gift to today's families and generations to come,” language repeated by city speakers at the event.
Doral Central Park is now open to the public, and officials said the facilities will begin hosting programming and classes this summer; specific program schedules and registration details were not specified at the ceremony.
