The Centerville City Board of Education at its May 27 meeting approved a package of business items that included a three-year contract with the Centerville Police Department for school resource officers (SROs), an insurance and hold-harmless agreement for the American Festival fireworks celebration, the purchase of updated AP Literature and AP Language textbooks, and multiple personnel and financial recommendations from the treasurer and superintendent.
The treasurer’s recommendations included approval of the April 2025 financial statements, monthly reconciliation reports, and a set of purchase orders certified by administration and supported by a board resolution totaling $20,802.43. The financial-items motion was offered and carried by roll call.
The SRO contract was presented as a three-year agreement with the Centerville Police Department; the board moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by roll call during the business portion of the meeting. The board also approved an insurance and hold-harmless agreement for the American Festival fireworks scheduled for July 4.
On academics, the board approved the purchase of updated AP Literature and AP Language textbooks for roughly 350 students enrolled in those courses; presenters said the College Board requires periodic updates and the district had not updated the materials since about 2012.
Several personnel schedules were approved on the consent agenda, including resignations, certificated personnel contract changes, support-staff employment and supplemental assignments listed in the district schedules presented at the meeting. The motions were approved by roll-call votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
