The Sparta Area School District board voted to move into closed session under Wisconsin Statutes §19.85(1)(c) "for the purpose of considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation for any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction," the board announced.
The motion to enter closed session was made by Colin Burns Gilbert and seconded by Miss Lopez. The roll-call vote was recorded as yes from the five members present; two members were absent.
Board chair and staff said the meeting would be recorded until the closed-session convening and that the public recording would stop during closed session. No formal public announcements about the content of the closed session were made when the board recessed; staff said they'd return to the open record if there were announcements to make.
The board did not take public action on the substance of the closed-session discussion during the open meeting portion; the public record for this meeting ended when the recording stopped.
