Marion County superintendent formally confirms North Marion High School Class of 2025 graduation

Dr. Gullett, superintendent of Marion County Public Schools, formally confirmed the graduation of North Marion High School's Class of 2025 during the school's commencement ceremony, saying he acted "in accordance with Article 9 of the Constitution of the State of Florida" and after requirements set by Florida statutes, the State Board of Education and the Marion County School Board were met.

The declaration was the ceremony's formal action: after announcing that the Class of 2025 had satisfied state and district requirements, Dr. Gullett told graduates, "With the authority delegated to me as your superintendent of schools, I now proudly confirm your graduation from Marion County Public Schools." He then directed the graduates to "turn your tassels."

The announcement confirmed that the students met diploma requirements set by state and local education authorities, the basis on which the superintendent said he was conferring the diplomas. The principal of North Marion High School, speaking earlier in the program, introduced the ceremony and recognized district and school leaders in attendance.

Valedictorian Jadair Montoya Gutierrez, identified in the program as the class valedictorian, delivered remarks reflecting on the class's four years and thanked teachers and family. "I might be up here as valedictorian, but trust me, this was a team effort," Montoya Gutierrez said in her address; the program notes she plans to attend the University of Florida to study biology. Salutatorian Cassidy Hooks, who also served as senior class secretary, told graduates: "Today, we are celebrating not the end of something, but the beginning of everything." Hooks is listed as matriculating at the University of Central Florida to study kinesiology.

School officials provided a number of recognitions during the ceremony: Cox Communications supplied honor cords for graduates, and principals from feeder schools were acknowledged. The principal also noted that faculty had spent "over 4,000 hours" with the graduating class over four years.

The ceremony concluded after the conferral and brief student reflections; class officers delivered closing remarks and the principal dismissed the graduates. No legislative or policy changes were proposed or adopted during the event; the commemoration served to confirm that students met the listed academic and administrative requirements for graduation.
