La Grange Park begins EPA-required lead and copper sampling; one lead service line replaced

The Village of La Grange Park Public Works report on May 27 said crews replaced one lead service line after detecting a leak and that the village has begun lead-and-copper sampling in compliance with new EPA requirements.
Public Works reported that 60 lead-and-copper samples will be taken biannually under the new regulation. The department also noted ongoing seasonal activities: hydrant flushing, installation of one new fire hydrant, completion of four hydrant modification kits, spring tree planting, pothole repairs, and the delivery of concrete blocks to organize the village dump site.
Staff said 15 monthly bacterial samples were taken and quarterly Stage 2 samples were collected as part of routine testing. The report also noted the village completed a transition of water-meter reading procedures in sections 1, 2 and 3 (as reported to the board) and that lead and copper sampling has started per the EPA rule.
No formal board action was required on the operations report; trustees received the updates during the public works committee report.
