A House committee of conference on Thursday, May 29 approved a final report reconciling House and Senate language in S.123, the transportation bill, adopting changes that affect driver-license renewals, fees for people on SSI and SSDI, bicycle crossing rules and legal-trail definitions.
The committee’s legislative counsel, Damien Leonard, walked members through the changes and where the conference report tracked back to either the House or Senate versions. “I will take you through the changes from the as passed the house, and I’ll also flag where you’ve changed from, where you’ve made, gone back to the senate version,” Leonard said.
The most consequential adjustments include:
- Reduced license fees for individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI): retained from the Senate with a delayed effective date of July 1, 2026 (section 9).
